我們是誰?
香港閱讀學會創立於一九八零年,是為在香港對閱讀有興趣和關注推廣閱讀的人士而設的非牟利專業團體。
本會多年來有超過一百六十
名個人與團體會員,其中包括教師、家長、校長、圖書館管理員、大專學生和出版業人士。
本會同時為國際閱讀學會香港分會。國際閱讀學會 (IRA) 是一個推動讀寫能力工作的國際性組織,總部位於美國紐瓦克。其九萬名會員來自九十九個國家,分佈全球各地,服務超過三十五萬名個人與團體會員。
Who are we?
Hong Kong Reading Association was founded in 1980 as a professional non-profit-making organisation
for individuals who are genuinely interested in and concerned with promoting reading in
Hong Kong.
The Association now have over 100 of individual and institutional
members, including parents, teachers, principals, librarians, schools
and publishers.
The Association is also the local affiliated Council of the International Reading Association which has more
than 90,000 members in 99 countries , represents over 350,000 individuals and institutions
worldwide.
我們的會舉辦以下的活動:
◆ 透過閱讀學會網頁與會員及公眾溝通;
◆ 參與閱讀刊物的出版工作;
◆ 進行有關閱讀的學術研究;
◆ 為教育工作者及決策者舉辦本港及國濟研討會和工作坊;
◆ 傳播海外閱讀研討會的訊息;
◆ 舉辦公開講座、短期訓練課程和閱讀運動;
◆ 與推廣閱讀運動的學校合學,給學生頒發香港閱讀學會嘉許狀。
What do we do?
◆ Publishing the Newsletter at least two times a year;
◆ Communicating with members and the public via the Hong Kong Reading Association web site.
◆ Participating in academic research on reading;
◆ Organizing seminars and workshops for educators and policy makers at both international and local levels;
◆ Disseminating information about reading conferences overseas;
◆ Mounting courses, campaigns and public talks to promote reading in the local community;
◆ providing certificate of appreciation to support school activities which promote reading, etc. etc.
◆ Participating in the publication of Asian Literacy & Reading Bulletin, Bibliography on Reading, essays of Hong
Kong primary and secondary school students, etc.;

◆ 鼓勵進行有關各教育階段遇到的中英文閱讀問題的分析;
◆ 推廣與閱讀有關的學術研究;
◆ 研究影響閱讀的種種因素;
◆ 出版有關提高閱讀能力的研究報告;

協助提高師資訓練質素;
◆ 提供閱讀資訊轉介服務;
◆
傳播解決閱讀困難的知識;

主辦閱讀研討會;
◆ 促進教育工作者的合作和了解
What are our objectives?
◆ To encourage the study of reading problems in Chinese and English at all educational levels.
◆ To stimulate and promote research in development, creative, corrective and remedial reading
◆ To study the various factors that influence progress in reading.
◆ To publish the results of pertinent and significant investigations and practices.
◆ To assist in the development of more adequate teacher-training programmes.
◆ To act as clearing-house in Hong Kong for information relating to reading.
◆ To disseminate knowledge helpful in the solution of problems related to reading.
◆ To sponsor conferences and meetings on reading.
◆ To promote mutual understanding and co-operative work among educators in kindergartens, primary and
secondary schools, in special areas, and in colleges and universities.
